Noty

Support

Answers to common questions, and how to reach us.

Noty is designed so that only you can open your notes. That keeps them private — and it also means a few things work differently from other apps. Here are the most common questions.

I forgot my password. Can you reset it?

No, and that's by design. Your notes are encrypted with a key only you hold, so we can't open or reset them. If you saved your key file (Settings → Export your key), you can restore your notes with it. Without the password or the key file, the notes can't be recovered.

How do I move my notes to a new iPhone?

On your old phone, export your key from Settings and save the file somewhere you trust, such as Files. With sync turned on, your encrypted notes are kept on our storage. On the new phone, install Noty, choose Import an existing key, pick your key file, and turn on sync to bring your notes back.

What does sync do, and is it safe?

Sync keeps an encrypted copy of your notes on our storage so you can restore them later. Notes are encrypted on your iPhone before upload; our server only ever sees scrambled data and never needs an account. Turn it on or off any time in Settings → Sync.

How do I use Face ID or a PIN?

Open Settings in Noty to turn on Face ID or set a PIN. You can also choose when Noty locks itself — immediately, after a few minutes, or when the app quits. Your password always works as a fallback.

Are my notes in my iCloud backup?

No. Noty keeps its encrypted files out of iCloud and device backups. Use your exported key file and sync to keep a copy you can restore.

Can I attach photos and voice memos?

Yes — photos, videos, files and voice memos, up to 25 MB each. Attachments are encrypted just like your text.
